Then did "Te Mahi" group poster on information for their question
Then using Comic life on IPAdS collated information

Voice of Shontae- In inquiry I made stuff and that was enjoyable ,I did group work it was nice but I would rather work by myself,I learnt something from this inquiry. It was fun and I would like to do it again .

Activities
We have had a busy 2 months. We have had a Biathlon where we ran and biked. We have started Milk in Schools. It is yummy. The whole school went in the Kapa Haka festival. It was fun when we went to Beach Education. We all loved swimming in the sea and playing in the sand on the beach. We have been talking about Pay it Forward in Inquiry. Room 2 have been helping our whanau by being nice and doing things for them. We had an awesome Disco with Funkman. Our Christmas party in Room 2 was the best fun. We played games and had presents and lots of yummy party food. Khani won the pass the parcel. Miharo is fun. Miharo is awesome. ( Mrs Bennett)
Shontae won Junior Girls Biathlon. Paying it Forward helping Shy-lamour and Khani make our Dream School on the ipad. Milk in schools is yum. We did the Kapa Haka in front of lots of people.
Beach Education and the Disco
Our Room 2 Xmas Party
l loved the Disco and the Beach Education. It was fun swimming in the sea. I won the Junior girls Biathlon. I got in the newsletter. (Shontae)

Preschool Tuakana- teina
We love to have the Preschool visit us . They have a story with us and we play together. We help them with things and show them where things are. They like coming to see us all in Room 2 as well.
PMP
We have Diane come and take PMP with us. She is from Flax Rock. We have fun and learn lots of different ways to move with our bodies. We get fit too. I like doing all the exercises best.
Ronald McDonald
Ronald McDonald came to talk to us about road safety. We knew the song about Stop Look and Listen as we had learnt that in class with Mrs Bennett. Ronald McDonald was funny. He lost his sock . We had to help him find it. He made Mrs Bennett disappear and then come back again but she was really just behind the screen. She jumped out and gave us a surprise. I laughed at Ronald McDonald and Mrs Bennett.

Writing Moderation 20/9/13
This moderation was done to send away to another school for comparison. I encouraged Shontae to use the ipad to record her ideas about 'A Moment in Time.' She did a Comic Life about her trip to Rotorua. I assessed it as "above" (1iii b).
I liked making a Comic Life about my trip to Rotorua. Mrs Bennett helped me with Rotorua and helped me spell moment and time. I got the rest of the words from the dictionary or round the room or I knew how to spell them. (Shontae)
Inquiry Keynote presentation.
I talked to the school about the 1980's and what we learnt about it in Inquiry. It was on a keynote on the ipad. I talked about old computers and all the questions we asked and the things that we wanted to know about. (Shontae) As a class we learnt about the 1980's and used google search engine to find out about clothes, games, computers and movies. We made a keynote presentation which we presented as reporting back to the school. ( Mrs Bennett)
Shy-lamour and me did the Rock and Roll. I liked Dancing in the street. I was a lion as well. ( Shontae)
The tamariki were amazing. They danced and sang their way through nearly an hour of music from the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's. Even the teachers line danced to Achy Breaky Heart and were zombies toMichael Jackson's Thriller. Miharo Roll n Rolled to music from the 1980's. They did I love Rock and Roll. The lion Sleeps Tonight and Dancing in the Street. What a wonderful performance. ( Mrs Bennett)
Disco 15/8
Me and Khan
We had lots of fun at the Disco. We dressed up and had glow lights. We danced and had games and competitions. We also had a sausage and a drink.
Discovery Making Poi T3
Look at my poi. I made 2 poi. Mrs Bennett helped me make them. I sang a E rere taku poi too. I liked making them. (Shontae) I assisted Shontae by first showing her how to make the poi, by putting newspaper into a plastic bag. I then showed her what lengths to cut the wool. I showed her where to tie it and she could do it by herself. The first piece of wool she cut was too short and so she went back looked at my piece again. She then put my piece next to the ball of wool that she was cutting. This time she was successful. We then sang E Rere taku poi and swung the poi in time to the music with the other children. Shontae was using her thinking and problem solving skills as well as developing her hand eye co-ordination skills. ( Mrs Bennett)

Prizegiving
Shontae won the academic award at the end of Term Two awards assembly. She has made every good progress in all areas and tries hard. She has caught up a lot this year in her reading and mathematics. She has progressed 6 levels in reading this year ( Mrs Bennett)
Matariki 1/7/13- 5/7/13
We had an amazing Matariki week at Riverslea school. We started Monday with a Dawn tree planting ceremony and whanau, school breakfast. Tuesday we had a Hakinakina sports day of Maori games with Bridge Pa school. That was lots of fun. Wednesday we helped prepare for the Hangi on Thursday. Thursday we had a huge Matariki festival at the school. The children were amazing with our Kapa Haka and there was a hangi, lots of stalls and other schools and people and whanau visiting. We had Irongate, Whare Tapere, the Line Dancers, Karamu and singers and dancers. Waata was an amazing DJ with the Funkman and PK in charge of music and coordination, sound etc. The hangi was a highlight with 6-8 Dads, Koros and whanau helping out, as well as whanau such as Roberta and Karina with serving. Other whanau helped behind the scenes with all the activities, sausage sizzle for the performers etc. What am amazing successful week. Ka mau te wihi ( Mrs Bennett).

l wrote a story about Sk8zone. Mrs Bennett got me to read it and I told her lots of other things about Sk8zone on the video. I had lots of fun there. (Shontae) I got Shontae to do a writing sample ( for moderation) on Sk8zone. I had put 3 words on the board for the children but the majority of the writing was unassisted. Shonate used the words 'Sk8zone' and 'flipped.' I also videoed Shontae to get her to read her story back to me and encouraged her to tell me some other things she would have said about Sk8zone, if she had written a longer story. She told me how she went down the ramps and the other people she saw there. I supported her by asking questions to extend her thinking and develop her ideas orally. Participating and Contributing- Inside Games.
I learnt a new inside game. It was called Pictionary. Huntah had to guess what the picture I drew was.( Shontae) I showed Shontae and Huntah how to play Pictionary. I then played a game with them to reinforce the skills learnt. They were then able to play several games together independently participating and contributing. They drew some interesting pictures and were able to guess a lot of the time what the other person had drawn Then they moved onto another game. ( Mrs Bennett)

Town Library
21/5/13
I like reading books at the library. Mrs Bennett also read books to us and so did Miss McGrail and Mrs Donaldson. I loved playing in the playground too. I can go high on the swing now. (Shontae) Shontae enjoyed looking through all the books in the children's section at the library. This visit showed her the books available at the library and she enjoyed listening to the books that were read to her ( Mrs Bennett)
The Life Education Trust

I am learning to match the same things with the cards on the ipad. I can do it easily now. (Shontae) I helped Shontae with the app initially. I now need to encourage her to move onto a harder level and try new learning apps.( Mrs Bennett)
Turangawaewae
I know all about Turangawaewae. We looked at things that were special about our school. I think that they are the bike track and the ipads and the preschool and the playground . ( Shontae) I videoed by Shontae. I asked her about what we had learnt about in Inquiry. I had led and guided an Inquiry about Turangawaewae. Shontae was able to talk about what we did and found out and where to next. She can ask and answer questions about the Inquiry and also think about and develop ideas associated with Turangawaewae. Flax Rock

Look how I can climb up the wall at Flax Rock. I can go up real high. I was a bit scared and didn't touch the top.( Shontae ) I supported Shontae by cheering her on and watching her. I also took pictures of her climbing up most of the wall. She went very high and she was proud of herself and so was I.( Mrs Bennett)
Discovery
I made a bracelet in Discovery. I liked making it. I tried to make a pattern ( Shontae) I helped Shontae thread the beads onto the string and tied the string so that the beads would not fall off. I showed her how to do a pattern but left it to her to choose how to make it. ( Mrs Bennett)

Spelling on the ipad
I am getting good at spelling and trying my own words in storywriting. I like spelling on the ipad and can spell lots of words. I practise learning them by writing them again. I want to learn lots of new words to put in my own stories. ( Shontae) I showed Shontae how to use the spelling apps correctly on the ipad. She started practising and has improved in her spelling skills now. I monitored her to be around to help her if needed. ( Mrs Bennett)
Reading a story using Quick Voice

I can read my stories on the ipad all by myself. I use Quick voice. I like to sit on the deck so that I can do it by myself. It is quieter there. I am going to show some new children how to do it by themselves too. ( Shontae) I shoiwed Shontae how to use Quick voice on the ipad to record her reading books. She loves it and uses it nearly every day, often getting extra books out of her browsing box to read. She always brings it to me every day so that I can hear how well she is reading.I believe it has helped her reading progress. ( Mrs Bennett)
Book Creator with Crysire Jade
I made a Book Creator with Crysire Jade. It was fun. I am going to try other stories with other people too. ( Shontae) I monitored what they were doing and gave them a couple of pointers when they seemed a bit stuck. They produced a really good Book Creator story 'At the Dump' I videoed it for them to put on Shontae's wiki page as she was so proud of it. ( Mrs Bennett).
Comic Life with Leah 13/3/13
I made a Comic life with Leah. She is my buddy from Room 1 . She helps me. ( Shontae) I watched Leah and Shontae working together. I was available if they needed help. I gave them support and praise ( Mrs Bennett).

Swimming
I can kick with a flutter board. I can go under the water when I swim across the pool. I want to get better at it. ( Shontae) By teaching Shontae swimming skills she grew in confidence and can swim without a flutterboard as well as go under the water. (Mrs Bennett)
